Built around the ruins of the pre-Civil War Tannehill Ironworks, the Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park depicts Alabama life in the mid-19th century with a cotton gin, working gristmill, pioneer farm, and a turn-of-the-century church along with more than 40 other historical buildings. The park also includes hiking trails, a museum and a fishing creek along with a campground and cabins for overnight stays. Located 20 miles southwest of Birmingham, the state park is still very accessible, and less than a mile away from the Tannehill National Golf Course.
